Hiroshima means two things: the Peace Memorial Park and Museum (ninety minutes if you're moving fast, half a day if you're reading every placard), and Miyajima Island's floating torii gate forty minutes away by tram and ferry. Guided day tours typically pair both with a stop for okonomiyaki at Okonomimura. The museum is emotionally intense — pair it with a sunset at Miyajima or a Shukkeien garden walk to reset. Late autumn brings Miyajima's maples; April blooms cherry blossoms around the A-Bomb Dome in a way that's hard to photograph neutrally.
